Privacy Policy
Last updated: Nov 13, 2025
Introduction
UnDoomScroll (“App”) helps you build healthier screen habits by gently intercepting distracting apps. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the App or our website, you agree to this policy.
Data We Collect
Account data (optional): If you sign in (e.g., with Google via Firebase Authentication), we receive a unique user ID, display name, and email address if available.
Subscription status: We receive purchase tokens and entitlement status from Google Play Billing to determine whether you are a Pro user. We do not receive your full payment card details.
App settings and selections: On your device, we store your preferences (e.g., cooldown durations, intervention type, theme, schedule choices), list of “blocked/monitored” app package names, Focus Vault durations, weekly goals, bypass counts, and optional weekly reflections you enter. These are stored locally on your device unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Interception events: The App counts interceptions and outcomes (e.g., “bypassed” vs “stayed”) to show your progress. These counts are stored locally; aggregated, non‑personal analytics events may be sent to our analytics provider to improve the product.
Crash and diagnostics: If enabled, anonymized crash and performance data may be collected (e.g., via Firebase Crashlytics) to diagnose issues.
Website data: If you visit our website, we may collect basic server logs and privacy‑respecting analytics (page views, device type, approximate location) to maintain and improve the site. Cookies, if used, will be limited and disclosed.
Android Permissions We Request (and Why)
Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Detects when selected apps are opened so we can show a gentle interception. We process app package names and timestamps to run core features. We do not read content inside those apps.
Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW / overlay): Shows the interception screen on top of a distracting app when you open it.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS; Android 13+): Sends optional reminders (e.g., re‑interventions, streak milestones). You can disable notifications in system settings.
Network Access: Authenticates your account, verifies subscription status, and sends privacy‑respecting analytics/crash reports if enabled.
How We Use Data
Provide and improve the App (interceptions, schedules, Focus Vault, analytics views).
Verify purchases and manage Pro entitlements.
Communicate important updates, service notices, or support responses.
Analyze aggregated usage trends to make the experience more effective and reliable.
What We Don’t Collect
We do not collect keystrokes, message contents, browsing history inside other apps, or passwords.
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not access the device’s Advertising ID for ad targeting.
Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
Performance of a contract: To provide the App and Pro features you request.
Legitimate interests: To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve features with minimal, aggregated analytics.
Consent: For notifications and analytics/crash reporting where required.
Data Sharing
Processors: We work with trusted service providers solely to operate the App:
Google Firebase (Authentication, optional Crashlytics/Analytics)
Google Play Billing (purchases and entitlements)
These providers process limited data on our behalf under data protection terms. We do not share your personal data with advertisers.
International Transfers
If data is processed outside your country (e.g., by Firebase in the United States), we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable.
Data Retention
Local device data (goals, vault settings, reflections, app selections) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Account and subscription data are retained as long as your account is active or as needed for legal/operational purposes. You may request deletion at any time.
Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object or restrict certain processing.
You can:
Revoke Usage Access or Overlay permissions in Android Settings.
Disable notifications in Android Settings.
Opt out of analytics/crash reporting where provided in App settings.
Request account deletion or data export via the contact below.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards (e.g., encryption in transit, least‑privilege access). No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to keep your device updated and protected.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App or laws. We will post updates on our website and, where appropriate, notify you in‑App.
